The Need:
Animal cruelty is a worldwide problem that must be taken one step at a time and multiple aspects must be taken into consideration.
Where is it happening: While animal cruelty occurs everywhere, Tails for Change is focusing on District of Columbia and Maryland areas.
Who is affected: Animals are the victims because they are being abused, however, people are affected as well. Stray animals can carry diseases, raid trash bins for food, and cause car accidents by running into the streets.
Why is it happening: Animal cruelty continues to be a problem for a multitude of reasons including: loopholes in laws that allow certain forms of cruelty, ignorance or unfamiliarity with what constitutes cruelty, and failure to act. One of the major means of abuse is abandonment/negligence, meaning the animal is simply disowned or is not given proper care.
